On November 16 , the 2024 "DesignTransformation in the Digital and Intelligent Era" International Forum ,co-sponsored by Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology andShanghai Design IV Peak Discipline and hosted by the School of Artand Design, was held at the Graphic Information Center of Songjiang Campusof our school. The second lecture hall was successfully held. Xu Yang, deputysecretary of the school party committee and vice president, attended theopening ceremony of the forum. Li Cong, deputy director of the InternationalCooperation and Exchange Office, Li Chonggui, deputy director of the ScientificResearch Office, well-known designers, experts, scholars from all over theworld, teachers and students of the college, a total of more than 200 peopleparticipated in the event. The opening ceremony was hosted by Li Yunxian,Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Art and Design.

XuYang extended a warm welcome to the guests. He pointed out that in the era ofdigital intelligence, the design field is undergoing unprecedented changes. Theadvancement of technology, especially the development of emerging technologiessuch as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing, is reshapingdesign concepts, methods, and tools. Facing the challenges and opportunities ofthe digital and intelligent era, the school will continue to adhere to theinnovation-driven educational philosophy, strengthen cooperation with domesticand foreign universities and enterprises, and jointly promote the developmentof design education and practice.

DeputySecretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the School of Art and Designemphasized that digital and intelligent technology has brought unprecedentedopportunities to design. The era of digital intelligence has put forward newrequirements for design education. The college curriculum system, teachingmethods and even the entire academic research direction need to keep pace withthe times and the development of the latest technology.

This forum invited industry experts from all over the world to give keynotespeeches. They shared research results and concepts around multiple topicssuch as new productivity, digital smart fashion, sustainable development,intelligent design, digital manufacturing, citizen technology,and AIGC. . The wonderful sharing by experts demonstrated new ideasfor the development of design education in the digital and intelligent era.

This forum aims to seize new opportunities in the development of digitalintelligence, combine the college's "three special" educationalphilosophy and the discipline characteristics of applied design, provide ahigh-level academic exchange platform for teachers and students of the college,help promote the development of the discipline, and build a Open, sharing andcollaborative education pattern.
