On the morning of June 24, the "The Unbounded Overlapping Images" – Joint Exhibition of Outstanding Graduation Design Works for the 2025 Graduating Class of Shanghai's Type-IV Peak Discipline in Design Studies, hosted by the School of Art and Design, opened at the Industry-Education Integration Building on the Changning Campus of Shanghai University of Engineering Science. President Lou Yongqi, Vice President Xu Kaiyu, deans, teachers, and students from collaborative institutions of the Type-IV Peak Discipline in Design Studies attended the opening ceremony, which was hosted by Xu Jianghua, Vice Dean of the School of Art and Design.
Lou Yongqi, President of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, announced the opening of the "Unbounded Overlapping Images" – Joint Exhibition of Outstanding Graduation Design Works for the 2025 Graduating Class of Shanghai's Type-IV Peak Discipline in Design Studies. He pointed out that looking back on the ten-year journey of collaborative endeavor, the strong "urban collaborative effect" of the peak discipline has been the key cornerstone for the five universities to achieve fruitful results. Taking this joint exhibition as a new starting point, the five universities will further deepen the collaborative education mechanism, continuously enhance the level of collaborative innovation, and jointly write a new chapter in design education.
In his speech, Vice President Xu Kaiyu stated that this joint exhibition brings together outstanding graduation design works from five high-level institutions in Shanghai. Our university has persisted in running schools based on industries, formed a "tri-rotor" cross-driven innovation model, and is committed to cultivating high-quality design talents with an international perspective and innovative spirit.
Gao Zhuo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the School of Art and Design, stated that relying on the platform of Shanghai's Type-IV Peak Discipline in Design Studies, the School of Art and Design has always actively explored the design connotation and talent training model in the digital intelligence era, and promoted the in-depth integration of the design discipline into the industrial innovation chain.
Deans from the five universities of Shanghai's Type-IV Peak Discipline in Design Studies awarded certificates to the selected students.
From an interdisciplinary and cross-field perspective, this exhibition presents more than 70 graduation design works from five universities. Young designers, with technology as their brush and humanity as their ink, reconstruct the boundaries of design in the integration of virtual and real. These works not only echo the selection criteria of "innovation, academicity, applicability, integrity and practicality" but also demonstrate the cutting-edge exploration spirit of the Type-IV Peak Discipline in Design Studies.
